Scarallo Grabs AGT Pole at Lime Rock Park

LIME ROCK, Conn. - Joey Scarallo grabbed the pole and set a record in doing so as the field was set for the American GT Challenge event at Lime Rock Park.

Scarallo (USA) clicked off the fastest time of the day during Friday’s practice session and the lap held up when inclement weather at the posted time for the qualifying session forced series organizers to alter the normal schedule.

“When the weather looked iffy, we instituted the double-qualifying session program,” said series founder Woodson Duncan. “We did this in the interest of safety.”

Scarallo’s record-setting lap, 51.379 seconds around the fast, 1.53-mile road course, gave him the pole for the second time in as many weeks. He won the pole and both heat races in the AGT event at Mosport International Raceway in Canada last weekend.

An international field of 16 AGT cars is expected to take the green flag Saturday. Dave Machavern (USA) will start next to Scarallo on the front row. Jack Busch (USA) and defending series champion Edison Lluch (Puerto Rico) make up the second row.

The AGT race is running in conjunction with a Rolex Sports Car Series event.
