Lime Rock Results Altered by Protest and Disqualification

The results of Round four of the American GT Road Racing Association’s Inter-Americas Challenge was contested at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, CT on Saturday July 1, 2006 during The New England Grand Prix. A new Qualifying record was set by Edison Lluch Sr. of Lajas Puerto Rico. Lluch also set the second fastest race lap and finished first in both races.

Lluch was moved to last place in the first race when his car was found to be underweight by 7 pounds, following a protest by the second place finisher Joey Scarallo of Smith Town Long Island.

“What a shame” commented Woodson Duncan the series owner, “these guys work so hard and the racing is so close that there truly is no room for error.

Joey Scarallo has been in a tough position trying to make up ground on the points leader Edison Lluch. Joey had succeeded in closing the gap somewhat by sweeping the last two events.

A mechanical failure in the second race put Joey out and allowed John Reisman to capture top spot on the podium for the weekend followed by Dave Machavern and local favorite Jack Busch.

Final week end results are:
