SPEED to Carry AGT Race in Dominican Republic

SANTO DOMINGO, D.R. (Nov. 30, 2006) – The American GT Challenge announced today that its 2006 season finale, to be held this weekend at the Autodromo Las Americas, will be recorded and broadcast to an international audience by the SPEED Channel.

The Santo Domingo race will be taped by Jim Robinson and Associates. The company has produced CASCAR races for SPEED.

“This is a major step for us,” said AGT founder Woodson Duncan. “It was important to us to take this step, but with the right partners. We’ve done that with Jim Robinson and the SPEED Channel.”

The 1.6-mile Autodromo venue will prove challenging to the powerful AGT sports cars. Puerto Rico’s Edison Lluch, the defending series champion, has a commanding lead in the championship standings. Only his son, Edison Lluch Jr., has a mathematical chance to catch for defending champ.

The AGT series matches American-built muscle cars from a variety of racing applications, creates an even playing field through its rulebook, and competes in four nations throughout the Americas.

“Usually the sound of the engines from the Mustangs, Corvettes, Camaros and Cutlasses generates plenty of excitement in the grandstands,” Duncan said. “But this race, given the father-son deal for the championship, should be special.”
