Puerto Rico’s Fernandez to Test AGT Challenge Car
Wilton, CT (January 2, 2007) — The American GT Road Racing Association announced today that Puerto Rican racing champion Glorymar Fernandez will test with an AGT team later this month with an eye toward competing in the AGT Inter-America’s Cup Challenge series in 2007.
Fernandez is the 2006 FIA National T2 champion.
“I am certain Glory will represent herself and Puerto Rico in a professional manner,” said Woodson Duncan, President of the American GT Road Racing Association. “She will certainly give an account of herself and everyone will know she is here to race.”
Fernandez is expected to test with Sky Blue Racing at the end of January, probably in Puerto Rico. The team campaigns the number 29 Mustang built by Irv Hoerr. The team has previously competed in the series with Stu Hayner and Eric Curran behind the wheel.
Sky Blue team manager Rody Detert said, “She is a terrific competitor, very coachable, and very interested in broadening her racing career.” He said Fernandez has agreed to join the team for the entire 2007 AGT schedule if the January session goes well.
Fernandez holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the Metropolitan University of Puerto Rico.
“I have always been passionate about cars,” Fernandez said. “In 2004 I became determined to make a statement in the racing world. I want to master all the required skills to reach the top, as a female racer representing Puerto Rico”.
