Jr, who started from the pole, led every single lap except for the most important one, the last. “Everything was going great until the last lap, when the car lost power - probably lost a cylinder – and Dad past me in the pit straight since he had all the momentum” Said Jr at the winner circle interview.
Jon “Chevy” Leavy in the MurrayAuto.com Camaro finished a close third after he battled with Kenny Bupp in the Hamilton Safe Camaro, who started from third in the grid. Bupp he was able to jump to second place in the start and battle with Lluch Sr. (who was third) and with brake problems until Sr. was able to pass Bupp and set his sights on Edison Jr. Leavy then hunted Bupp for a few laps and was able to pass him just a few feet from the start/finish line on the last lap as well.
Frank Cioppettini in the Clover Enterprises Camaro had a great run and came in fifth. Charlie Webster in the CJ Webster LTD and Glen Seward had engine problems and Jordan Bupp, who is leader the rookie of the year championship, had transmission problems.
