Sr. Wins and Regains the Points Lead in the Don Q Corvette
Sebring, Fla (August 12, 2007) – It was HOT – HOT HOT! Just like that “one hit wonder” song by Arrow (later recorded by The Cure) used in everything from car commercials to fast food spots….it was HOT HOT HOT….the weather was hot and the on track competition was even hotter at the Shoot-Out at Sebring as two time defending AGT series champion Edison Lluch Sr of Puerto Rico in his Don Q Rum Corvette regained the AGT Inter-America’s Challenge Championship points lead with his second heat win on Sunday at Sebring International Raceway under the hot Florida sun. The second heat race on Sunday, like Saturday’s first heat race was another barn burner - with Jordan checking out on the field from his pole position - being hunted by his dad, Kenny Bupp, Edison Sr and Jon Levy. The second pack of cars witnessed Scary Terry leading Kris Skavnes, Mark Schaffer and Mendez in his Jag…it was nose to tail - door to door action all the way through the field. A late lap incident with the tire wall at 17 took Jordan out of the race and the race finished with Edison Sr taking the win shadowed by Jon Levy in his Murrayauto.com Camaro taking a close second as the two ran side by side the entire last lap. The podium was rounded out by Luis Mendez who after a spin out by a lapped car on the next to last lap spun Giles – allowing Mendez and Shaffer to pass – putting Mendez on the podium in third, Shaffer in forth and Giles in fifth. The racing was close and the competition fierce – but Sebring in the summer gives a whole new meaning to the term “Heat Race”. The AGT and all of the AGT Teams extend a big thank you to CFR for the hospitality - competition - friendship and professionalism. Next up is Round Six – The Rumble At The Road – at Roebling Road Raceway in Georgia. Who is going to win the SE Division Championship?
